So one of the best female lyricists in the game in South
African Hip-hop dropped a lit and breath taking visual for the track Dololo
featuring A-List rapper Big Star off her 15-track album dubbed ‘The New
Era Sessions‘ released in the late 2017.
After much anticipation of her “Dololo” music video and the CEO Step
doing rounds on social media, Rouge finally delivers the official video online.
Directed by Uncle Scrooch Ofentse Mwase, “Dololo”
sees Rouge & her friends (Moozlie & Ms Cosmo) cruising on their “Vrr
phas”, while Big Star rides along. With Mae N. Maejor/K-Beatz producing the
song.
Following the successful release of her album ‘The New Era Sessions‘, which has already
secured her a South African hip-hop award (SAHHA) and now two South
African Music Awards (SAMAs) nominations. The album released in
September 2017 was the inspiration behind the short film, also titled New Era Sessions, which saw her win a South African Film
and Television Award (SAFTAs) for Best Micro Film.
Dololo is generally a South African street lingual word for ‘nothing’,
being again more popular with the Young People and the youths in the streets of
South Africa.
Just by watching this video, you can also join in that bossy
mood and mien. The music video premiered on SABC 1’s music show Live Amp and
includes the song signature dance moves called the #CEOSTEP or the
#CEOCHALLENGE, which has since gone viral on all social media platforms. Dololo made
massive waves since the rapper challenged her fans and local celebs to
participate in the music video by sending through videos of their version of
the CEO step. Watch the new music video below:
The rapper is and; it is pretty dope and inspiring how she
mainly focuses on making great music unlike many artists who are selling
gimmicks.
On the joint Rouge, talks and rants about how she is on her
grind and how she is a CEO but people do not even know it. This piece of art comes
through with Rouge flexing on her lyrical tact. Burning those lines on
verses and making a mockery of bars as if they were hers for the taking. She
just differentiates the boss (the CEO) from the employees – other emcees in
this case.
The track on itself sounds more like AKA's "Don't forget to pray".
This is a new visual for a very good song that you
definitely cannot afford to miss as we can attest that Rouge is
not a failure when it comes to dropping of nice and interesting cuts.
The record bangs and has the potential to be one of the
biggest records in S.A this summer. Check out the brand new single and tell us
what you think:
SA rapper Rouge releases the DJ Pack with an accapella and
instrumental of her current single Dololo, which features Big Star. South African rappers
have braced up and are really to make an impact to the hiphop world this
season.
Plus, the “No Strings“
hitmaker whose real name is Deko Barbara-Jessica Wedi dropped her
deliveries on a bouncy rout in way that just makes the whole thing
uber-addictive. However, it is Big Star who takes the addiction to a
whole new level. Talking about vocals in the song, most people will agree with
me that BIGSTAR'S voice is so charming and swift in this joint. The combined effort with Big Star and the
combination of the duo simply made a magical anthem out of a grind and victory
lap that had to be released as a single.
Fusing elements of Trap instrumentals with those golden
vocals to slice through on the hooks, the rapper did bring some more depth,
perspective and fun to “Dololo.”
Great news is we can expect a music video for “Sheba
Ngwano” soon and it is all a massive feast from the stables of Rouge
this festive season. However, we will just key into the watch, roll and groove
of “Dololo” before then.
