Ammara Brown's AKILLIZ VIDEO A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT (Just like Winky D’s Disappear..)
December 18, 2017Panashe Gomendo“Is the video as poor as Winky D’s Disappear?” goes one of the questions that hits my mind. In my opinion its better than Winky D’s but categorically I place them in the same bandwidth. So in other words its Whack, as compared to what we expected.!
Especially if you think and consider that this video was a
revised version. The video apparently was a reshoot, after a fall out with the
director of the first Video in the first attempt. The concept is just out of
touch, just by comparing it to another video that lacked not in concept par-excellence in terms of reflecting the theme, by Tamy for
the song ‘Beautiful’ which featured Takura and DobbaDon where we see different outfits worn by different people with different personalities, cultures and backgrounds with different history - the message is quite clear that They are all beautiful and need to be proud of their difference with others.
Honestly our artists should now know better, you don’t do countdowns on a video especially a single video. If it was an album and it comes whack, we wouldn’t be this disappointed.
That’s what happens when you are busy spamming with a countdown to the long waited video, instead of working on the video. As we saw with Winky D's visual for the hit anthem Disappear last year.

All I saw from the video were bobbing heads with glitter lips,
which was good but in terms of reflecting the storyline it is in the negative and again to note, she wouldn’t let
her backup dancers flourish, what’s up with that type of outfits? Looks like the bridezilla who
picks out the most horrid outfits for braid maids so they don’t steal her
limelight. Do you just dress them in black and hide them in the shadows?
Not sure if it was a director’s mistake (grave mistake) or
she really didn’t want them to be seen. But I can't really call that an Editor's mistake, especially if the video was produced and edited by the Blaqs Ent, who have a track record of producing great projects when it comes to visuals.
Besides, the whole project belongs to Ammara and as the one in the limelight you should have some kindaa imagination as an artist on the type of videos you want (talk of Chris Brown and Dancing; 8L and Cars, Few Kings and Ugly Structured buildings, KikkyBadAss and..you know the deal etc). You don't have to sit back and relax because you have the editor doing all the editing, especially the highly anticipated video of that magnitude. As a musician you have your own standards that you set for yourself, and should live up to those standards. And I think shouldn't be compromised by a whack editor.
Again why do we have backup dancers if we have to struggle to see them. And considering how she found them is quite intriguing, she actually ran a dance competition/challenge on IG and picked winners from the ones with the most likes and comments. That means they were or are great choreographers.

Talking of the guy ‘Akiliz’, I would be hard pressed to call
that an error, someone made that call and the way she hogs the limelight except
to show off the ‘eyecandy’ guy eish, who looked confused half the time. He
definitely not the Akiliz mentioned and being described in the song.
Wachu Want for me was a way better video. Mukoko as well,
speaking of which most people loved Chengeto’s voice and that’s another story
for another day.
in conclusion, the video quality is good but the art is non-existent. These
things need creativity, not just access to technology. These girls should take
lessons from Jah Prayzah, he’s the best in the business when it comes to videos
in the whole of Zimbabwe regardless of who is the editor.
here is the video::::::::::
She has a huge pool of fans though and a great thing about
having a fanatic following you are always right even if it’s really a mess of a
product. She’s already on TRACE Africa while I am trolling the video here.
There are better visuals out there but hardly makes it that far, it’s all in
the name now. Having said this however I can still safely say I'm proudly an Ammartian! She has the talent and we love it.
